The Perry Elm.

In 1859, Professor A. L. Perry of Williams College planted a elm tree to commemorate the site of Fort Massachusetts. The tree remained in place until the early 1970s when it fell victim to Dutch Elm disease. The stump from the tree still remains on the site today.
