At Marshall Street, a militia of over 90 men formed and camped at the site until it left to join the Union Army in June of 1861. A bronze plaque was set on the Marshall Street entrance gate at Arnold Print Works in 1909 to memorialize the regiment, know as “The Johnson Grays.”.
